What this page is, and what it isn't

labs.rasoi.io is the front door to the apps rasoi labs builds. It lists them, says what each one is for, and links to it. That is the whole of it.

Each app is a separate site with its own sign-in, its own database and its own privacy page, because what each one keeps is genuinely different — a household's dishes is not a week's worth of habits and is not a ledger. This page cannot honestly speak for all three at once, so it doesn't try. Read the one you're using:

What we count on this page

One thing: which app you open from here. When you tap a tile we record that a tile was opened and which hostname it pointed at — a value this page printed itself, from a list that is public.

The software is Umami, self-hosted on the same box that serves this page. The numbers land in our own database and are read on our own dashboard. We use them to see which apps people actually want, which is a question we can only answer badly by guessing.

The web server also keeps ordinary request logs for a short while — the address that asked, what it asked for, and when — which is what any web server does and what makes it possible to tell an outage from an attack.

If you once turned measurement off in one of the apps, back when there was a switch for it, that answer is still in your browser and this page still honours it. The switch is gone because what is recorded no longer identifies anybody; an explicit "no" that somebody gave is not something to quietly reverse because the interface moved on.

What is true of every app here

These four hold across all of them. They are on the front page for the same reason they are here: the day an app can't honour one, the promise comes off rather than the page quietly becoming untrue.

• Your data is never sold. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Nothing you write down is used to train an AI model, ours or anybody else's.
• You can see everything kept about you, take a copy of it whenever you like, and delete it. Deleted means gone, not hidden.
• Every app here is free to use.
• Each app tells you what it sends out. Where an app uses an AI model, or a mail server, or a weather service, its own privacy page names it rather than describing it.

The control panel is a different site

admin.rasoi.io is where the box that runs all of this is administered. It is served by the same process as this page and it is not the same site: it has one user, it is behind Google sign-in against a fixed list of addresses, and every path on it turns a stranger away. Nothing you do here reaches it, and nothing on it is about you.

Asking us something

Write to contact@rasoi.io — about this page, about any of the apps, or to ask what is held about you and have it removed. Every message is read by the person who builds this. There is more about what to send where on the contact page.

If your question is about data held in one of the apps, that app can answer it faster than we can: each has an export and a delete on its own account screen, and neither needs to go through us.

Who runs this

rasoi labs is a small team based in India. The apps here are built and run by that team, and it is that team the "we" on these pages stands for.
